Financial Tip of The Week......

Pay yourself first! When you receive your payroll check make sure to pay yourself first. Start out with as little as $25 each pay period, many banks offer Auto Save, so when your check is deposited on your payday your bank will automatically transfer the funds into a savings account you have set up, if you DO NOT have a savings account SET ONE UP ASAP!!. It is always important to have an emergency fund. It is also important to keep some of your money separate from your day to day account (checking) you do not want to have ALL of your money in one account especially if you have direct debits or pay your bills from this account. If something were to happen like fraud or a freeze on your account, all of your money will be unavailable :(...... As always aspire to be better and do better...till next time...........

twenty five dollars!!!

Today I had the opportunity to attend an event at CPS. I will not disclose the school name I will just write about my experience and what made me write this evening. So I am a banker so part of my job is to help people make decisions regarding their finances. Many times my branch will have events scheduled where we go to organizations and try to talk to people about our products and services. One of the several characteristics that separates me from others is, I have a PASSION for educating people about the importance of being bankable as well as informing others on how to manage their money. I am an advocate for Financial Literacy and talking to the parents at the school truly opened my eyes to see how much of a need this is. So I had a table with the bank name, we had some giveaways like popular character stickers for the kids, some fake tattoos and eco friendly bags. My company was the only bank there but the other businesses were Tutoring Services at least 5 - 6 different ones. W

we are an inspiration to others.....

Today after leaving work I hung out with my friend Lavine . We went to my favorite taco restaurant Pepe's and had a good meal and then drove over to Western to look at this storefront that her friend is rehabbing . After that we went back to her house so I could help her with her school paper. She has enrolled at Chicago State University to finish her Bachelor Degree. We had a long three hour brainstorming session on what she wants to major in. In my opinion she has an eye for Fashion and would be a great Fashion Designer from clothing to home decor. I didn't realize that I was an inspiration to her until she told me that evening. I have finished by undergrad degree and I'm currently working on starting the masters program at Keller Graduate, I guess you get so caught up in your own life that we sometimes don't pay attention to the people standing on the sidelines watching our paths. I am proud that I can help motivate a friend to go back to school or strive for a be

learn something new everyday....

Yesterday I met my friend Eric at Starbucks to catch up and go over some business plans. I must say that our meeting was very enlightening and its good to brainstorm with friends. I learned how to get a free website for my small business as well as a free a telephone number! I have been paying almost $30 for my website and I am still not using the services. Where as my friend has his business phone number and website up and running and all for free!! It definitely pays to ask other people whats new technology or resources they are using to start their small business or even in general for work or school. We also learned that Starbucks is a great place to network and meet new people. I spoke with a CPA who was studying to become a Tax Attorney. I also met a man that is looking for a sales position. Its very important to continue learning and gaining more knowledge each day as we grow. The only thing in life that is certain is change and I have learned that in order to keep up with the w
