Make room for your gifts...

A wise man (Jim Rohn) once said, "if you will use your gifts they will make room for you". I truly can see the power of that statement now. I have talked to so many people over the last 2 years about my passion for financial education, and now that I have started my business so many doors of opportunity are opening for me. Its exciting and scary all at the same time but I wouldn't change it for the world. One of best best friends and business partner Eric introduced me to a magazine called Success. It changed my life and my perspective as to how i would move forward with my GIFT. My gift is I have knowledge about financial management and banking tips. I am always sharing the importance of understanding money and how it works. Unfortunately in a lot of households in the African American community it is not "taught" how to save $$, the importance of keeping good credit, etc. Many know how to spend it well cars, clothes and rims is the stereotype but to be honest I am not far off from agreeing with my experience. That is the kind of thinking I want to help CHANGE!! It has to be a change in order for us to survive ALL of us black, white, asian, hispanic. Finances and debt has no color boundary!! We all can use some tips and learn money management skills. As I continue to enlighten each person that crosses my path the think beyond what you see on TV. Read, pick up a book and learn something new to broaden your scope on life. We all have gifts that we are given and our gifts help this make this world go around. So reach down in your soul if you do not already know your gift and see the power of change once you start to share your gift with others. Its life changing and its a beautiful thing :)....

Today I had the opportunity to attend an event at CPS. I will not disclose the school name I will just write about my experience and what made me write this evening. So I am a banker so part of my job is to help people make decisions regarding their finances. Many times my branch will have events scheduled where we go to organizations and try to talk to people about our products and services. One of the several characteristics that separates me from others is, I have a PASSION for educating people about the importance of being bankable as well as informing others on how to manage their money. I am an advocate for Financial Literacy and talking to the parents at the school truly opened my eyes to see how much of a need this is. Stewart, 91, civil-rights pioneer Today a friend of mine Khalid Scott is helping spread the word about my Grandmothers Contribution to the Teachers of the South as well as an unknown Black History Fact! To me she was Grandmother Dear a place of safe haven and book of knowledge. She loved to share her stories of history and change with her grandchildren. She wanted us to understand how important Education was and how knowledge is Power.
